California, of course, has its Californian Poppy, which is orange and blooms in spring time. On good years it turns entire fields and hillsides a glorious orange, something that linda and I love to go shoot. Note our delight and surprise then when in Tuscany we saw entire fields of RED poppies, which apparantly are quite a common thing there. The time of year was May, similar to the time they bloom in California. Linda and I had made our way through some trees to get an unobstructed view of the fields and hills when this scene unfolded before us. We’re not sure exactly where in Tuscany this is other than it is South East of Siena, between Siena and Montepulciano. Just one of those places you stumble across by chance and probably will never be able to find again!
